Personal presentation
I started my work as a NIVA secretary in 1983, only one year after NIVA was founded. Before this I worked as a training secretary at the Training and Education Office of the Finnish Institute of Occupational Health. My professional background is thus based on organisational and administrative tasks both in national and international fields of occupational health and safety training. After 20 years of full-time work I was given the possibility to change over to part-time work in the beginning of 2003.

I graduated from the Helsinki Business Polytechnic as a physician's secretary in 1968. I have also studied social politics and adult education at the Helsinki Open University. I am married and have two children, a 34-year old son and a 27-year old daughter. My main interests are classical music, and all kinds of outdoor activities, like walking, jogging, skiing and golf.

From the course co-ordinator's point of view this job has been stimulating and challenging. New interesting places, and people from many countries and many different cultures have opened new perspectives, and have taught me to understand the value of international communication and cooperation.
