Background
The effects of occupational hazards on reproductive health are a concern in
developed as well as developing countries. While adverse pregnancy outcomes
owing to exposures during pregnancy is the main target of interest, the scope of
reproductive health includes also fertility, developmental disorders, long-term
effects of pre-and perinatal exposures and male-mediated developmental toxicity.
For the understanding and prevention of reproductive health risks occupational
health practitioners, researchers and legislators need knowledge on risk
assessment and management in the field of human reproduction and on current
trends in reproductive health research and legislation to protect reproductive
health of workers.

Objective
The course will provide up-to-date knowledge on occupational reproductive health
hazards required for understanding and prevention of workers' reproductive
health risks. The course will focus on assessment and management of occupational
risks to reproductive health, interpretation and use of research data in risk
assessment and on specific chemical, physical, organizational and psychosocial
risk factors. Legislation and policies to protect workers' reproductive health
will also be addressed.

Occupational health practitioners, legislators and researchers in the field of
occupational health.

Working methods
The course will consist of lectures and group works tutored by the lecturers.
Feedback will be given to participants on their ongoing studies in reproductive
health.

Location and accommodation
The course will take place in Naantali, which is a charming small town located
by the sea only 15 km from the city of Turku. Local sights include the summer residence
"Kultaranta" of the President of Finland, the medieval Naantali Convent Church and the Old Town. The organiser will reserve rooms for the participants at the Spa Hotel. The hotel is a high-class conference and holiday hotel situated by the Spa Bay. The surroundings of the hotel offer excellent opportunities for outdoor recreation.
