Objectives
The course will provide basic knowledge on different labour market policies and
social policy regulations in the Nordic countries, as well as systematic models of disability management in multi-national companies.
The course will increase employers' and other relevant actors' understanding of the specific gains and challenges related to employing people with disabilities. Special consideration will be given to not only the potential that this underemployed group of workforce provide, but also to the obligation of employers to provide reasonable accommodation for employees with disabilities.
The objectives of the course are to give participants an overview and understanding of the legislation combating discrimination in working life of people with disabilities. Also issues related to the relevant EU-directives and the newly adopted United Nations Convention on the Rights of People with disabilities will be taken up.
Course content
The course will be taught by the leading Scandinavian scholars in the research area, prominent experts of relevant legislation,
and experts of the relevant international human rights agreements. The different course segments will focus on common principles in
the Nordic countries. Other areas that will be covered are: The incentive structures for employers as well as employees, the vocational (re)habilitation models,
disability management methods, corporate social responsibility, and successful policy and solutions to provide employment to persons with disabilites.
Target groups
Human resource administrators in private and public business, occupational health professionals, administrators in social insurance,
labour market, and other authorities workning with vocational rehabilitation or placement of people with disabilities at the national,
regional, and local level, and representatives of labour market and disability peoples's organisations.
